Aria's Poncho

Aria's Poncho

Here is a picture of the pocho I made for Aria. She is my friend Sandy's two year old daughter. I made up the pattern as I went. I had actually finished this and given it to her a couple of weeks ago, but it was a little too big. I went back and added the drawstring to it.

Red Ribbon

Red	Ribbon
Here is a picture of the ribbon. The picture of the afghan is at the bottom of the blog. See Becca's Afghan.

All of my friends and family state they like the colors I used and I should have gotten a blue ribbon. They say the judges have no taste. :)

That's ok. They probably won't like the colors I'm using on my next project either. :)

Fair Ribbon

We picked up the afghan today. I got a red ribbon. I got 81 points out of a possible 100. The comments the judges wrote on my scorecard were: "Pretty design, interesting." & "Color choices distract from design."

Not bad for my first ever Fair entry.

Updates

We didn't make it out to the fair this weekend so I'll have to wait until this weekend when I pick up the afghan to find out if I got a ribbon. Lynn's asthma was really bad because of the high winds here and I managed to twist my ankle. We're both ok. I am almost finished with a poncho I am making for Lynn. I post a picture when it's done. I also have a pink poncho I made for the 2 yr old daughter of a friend of mine. I am adding a couple of rows and a drawstring to the inside of the neck, it came out way to big. I figure with a drawstring she should be able to wear it for a couple of years. I'll post of pic of that one soon too.

Comfortghan for George Walter

Comfortghan for George Walter

This is my second comfortghan. This one was for my roommate's father.
He has throat cancer. He had surgery and several weeks of radiation
last fall. He has just had a cat scan and shows no sign of cancer!

Comfortghan for Rhett Gunn

Comfortghan for Rhett Gunn

This is the first Comfortghan I assembled. I made it for the nine year
old son of a good friend of mine. Rhett had a tumor in his foot and was
going thru chemo. Last I heard from Dale his son is doing just fine.

Pins of Hope

Pins of Hope

I wanted to help with the project for the high school shooting. I tried
out the little heart pqttern from the HMB website. This is what I came
up with. I hope you like them. A box of 30 in various colors will be on
its way to Miss Wanda within a couple of days.

My boss took this picture for me, he said it looked like I was going to fly away. :)

My Seraphina

My Seraphina

I just couldn't resist after all the fuss over this pattern. I used
homespun, almost five skeins. I don't remember the name of the color.

Becca's Afghan

Becca's Afghan

This is an afghan I made for my friend Rebecca. I started it August and
finished it a couple of weeks ago. (I'm a little slow.) I've entered it
in the county fair, this is my first ever fair entry. Thanks to my
friends at HMB for planting the idea. The fair is this weekend. If I win
a ribbon I'll post a picture of it.

Who I am.

I live in Las Vegas with my husband of 13 years, Lynn and our roommate, Dave. We have three dogs, one cat, two snakes and a green iguana. I usually tell people that I'm the only human in the house. :) I have been crocheting for about 10 years. I started crafting at about 8 years old, my Grandmother taught me to how to stitch plastic canvas.. I've also done punch embroidery, counted cross stitch, clay scupting (including bead making), jewerly making, sewing, and various others. I've also attempted knitting a couple of times. Can't quite get into it, I'll keep trying though. Crafting runs very deeply through my veins. My Mom, her Sisters, my Grandmother, and my Sisters are all crafters. I'm sure it goes way back in the family line too. Ever since I first began to craft, I always "made up" my own designs. I've recently been inspired to start writing patterns and try to get them published. I'm very excited about this new phase of my crafting. I'm going to try to keep my blog updated with my progress. Bright blessings! Mindy
